Metering Feeders for Flowable Dry Ingredients

Flowable dry ingredients used for the production of food require special gravimetric metering feeders to feed them into the process. These feeders do not only have to meet high demands on hygiene regarding easy cleaning and prevention of contamination, they also need to be capable of feeding a wide range of raw materials as different as flours, powders, pellets or lumpy media. In addition, dry ingredients with damageable or deteriorating particles need particularly gentle feeding.

Brabender GmbH & Co. KG, one of the world’s leading suppliers of gravimetric metering feeders, offers a special line of hygienic design feeders for the food industry. Based on the company’s regular feeders that are in operation throughout the world, these special versions have been developed in close cooperation with renowned food companies in strict compliance with relevant standards, guidelines and directives for the food industry (DIN EN 1672-2, EHEDG, FDA, etc.). All feeders are not only distinguished by particularly easy cleaning but also by numerous preventive measures to avoid contamination by microbiological, chemical and physiological contaminants.

The product line comprises an array of loss-in-weight feeders equipped with different feed devices that are used dependent on the respective ingredient. Among them the universal “FlexWall®Plus” single screw feeder with paddle massaged flexible hopper is the most versatile solution and feeds a wide range of ingredients from flours and powders to granules. In addition, the line includes loss-in-weight feeders with vibrating trays for easily damageable ingredients (flakes, crisps, nuts, etc.) or with twin screws and stirring agitators for particularly poor flowing ingredients, and a special screw feeder for dried fruit lumps. Beside loss-in-weight feeders, weigh-belt feeders are available that are also perfectly suitable for damageable ingredients and particularly for high feed rates. All feeders can be used both for continuous or batch-wise metering.
